About Us

Tufaan is the University of Miami’s premier Fusion A Cappella group. As one of the most diverse organizations on Campus, Tufaan continues to maintain a perfect balance between high quality musicianship and a sense of love and family among its beloved members.

Most recently, Tufaan competed in the Steel City Sapna and Sangeet Saagar South Asian Fusion Competitions, placing 1st and 2nd, respectively. Tufaan also performed at the University of Miami’s Zeta Tau Alpha Fashion Show fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness and Education in the Spring of 2020 and the COISO international showcase for the University in the Fall of 2019.

In 2019, Tufaan swept up awards from the Sahana and Gathe Raho competitions before claiming a National Championship at the All American Awaaz final competition.

You can find them rehearsing Monday and Wednesday nights and some weekends at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. These incredibly diverse students find common ground in their passion for music, ambition for success, and absolutely undeniable love for their “Tufaamily.” There are currently 8 male and 11 female members that comprise Tufaan’s incredible sound. Members come from all over, including Costa Rica, France, Greece, and more! Our repertoire consists of a wide range of diverse genres from music of Western, Indian, and Spanish origins. From competitions to fundraisers, UM Patio Jams to local gigs, Tufaan members are always thrilled to perform and aim to spread joy and inspiration through their music and unrelenting energy.
