    • Absolutely! Whether or not you are here for the fall semester will not impact your chances of making our team

    • These students asked to callbacks will have a virtual version of our in-person callbacks

  • Can I audition live?

    • For safety reasons, our first round of auditions will be through virtual video uploads to youtube

    • For our second round of auditions, students invited back will audition in person to meet a few members of our team, adhering to social distancing standards and mask policies. Those auditioning will not be required to wear a mask when singing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it hard to get in?

  • Since Tufaan is comprised of 16-20 people, Tufaan cannot always accept everyone auditioning. However, our members are students that are both music majors and non-music majors. We recommend that anyone who has any interest in A Cappella auditions, as you never know what we are looking for!

What makes us different from other groups?

  • There are currently 3 A Cappella groups on Campus. The other two groups are Biscaydence and Phoenix, and all three vary in competitiveness and commitment. Tufaan is the only Fusion A Cappella group on campus. Students are encouraged to audition for multiple groups.

Can I audition for more than one group?

  • Yes! It is encouraged for students to audition for more than one group.

What happens if I get accepted into more than one group?

  • Students who are invited to more than one callback will select their preferred group after their callbacks in order to simplify the selection process.

If I don’t make it this year, can I audition again?

  • Yes! We have current members that made the team after their second audition.

What are rehearsals like?

  • We rehearse twice a week on Monday and Wednesday nights from 8-10:30. We rehearse at the Frost School of Music. Our rehearsals are very productive and motivating, but we also have a lot of fun. Tufaan is a big commitment, but does not prohibit you from joining other activities. Many of our members take part in other clubs and activities outside of Tufaan, and hold leadership positions in those clubs as well.

Does it cost money to join Tufaan?

  • Tufaan does not charge an initial member fee. Competition fees are mostly paid for by fundraising and school funding, but may require additional costs to cover any differences. Historically, members have not had to pay.
